IPL 2019: This Caribbean legend sees shades of this cricketer in Prithvi Shaw

XtraTime Web Desk: Former West Indies captain Brian Lara sees a similarity in the batting styles of Virender Sehwag and young Prithvi Shaw.

“I see more of Virender Sehwag in Prithvi Shaw’s style of batting and think his maturity is amazing,” said Lara during the Select Dugout program on Star Sports.

Prithvi, playing in only his second season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2019) has already caught the attention of the cricket fraternity. The 19 year old is already showing enough maturity compared to his seniors in the Delhi Capitals team.

“I think he has been in the IPL for a couple of years and is a senior player already. A lot is expected of him, he is in a big man’s game now and has got to do what is necessary,” said Lara.

The Caribbean legend still remembers the youngster’s debut century at Rajkot against the West Indies in last October. Prithvi went on to amass 237 runs from three test matches at an average of 118.05 which also earned him the Man of the Series award.

“I saw him play against the West Indies last October and he scored a lot of runs. It’s wonderful to see a young player on Indian soil doing so well. He traveled to Australia but unfortunately could not play, because of an injury,” concluded Lara.
