IPL 2019: Has Ravichandran Ashwin added a new weapon to his armory?

XtraTime Web Desk:
It was a perfect homecoming for Kings XI Punjab captain Ravichandran Ashwin as the off-spinner returned with an impressive bowling figure of 4-23-3 in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2019) clash against Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk on Saturday.

Ashwin removed all the three Chennai Super Kings wickets to fall – Shane Watson (26), Faf du Plessis (54) and Suresh Raina (17). The off-spinner tried something different while he was bowling to an in-form Proteas batsman Faf du Plessis. In the fifth ball of the 8th over, Ashwin delivered the ball with the action of a fast bowler, which surprised everyone. Du Plessis though had no problem in countering the delivery as he square cut for a single.

The following delivery the Kings XI captain tried to replicate the bowling action of Super Kings Kedar Jadhav. The ball was called a wide though as Suresh Raina decided to leave it. Jadhav has been hugely successful with his peculiar action in the recently concluded ODI series against Australia at home. The CSK off-spinner sometimes releases the ball almost with a side-arm action, thanks to which the balls come out with an extremely low trajectory. Ashwin was trying to do the same but it went awfully wrong to be called a wide.
