XtraTime Web Desk: Kings XI Punjab batsman KL Rahul on Wednesday notched up his maiden hundred in Indian Premier League (IPL 2019) against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede. Rahul blazed his way to a stroke filled 100 off 64 balls which included six fours and sixes at a strike rate of 156.3. The Kings XI batsman hit his buddy and Indian teammate Hardik Pandya for 23 runs in the penultimate over. Talking about thrashing his best friend, Rahul said, “Look I was focusing on the ball and not the bowler doesn’t matter who runs into bowl. I was looking to hit them for six or get a boundary. That’s what I did and I am really happy that I got my first hundred.” The talented batsman from Karnataka had two T20I’s hundreds against his name. He scored the first ball of the last over bowled by Bumrah for a six. After two dot balls, he scampered for a couple of runs to bring up the three figure mark off 63 balls. Talking about the way he paced his innings, Rahul said, “Honestly the way both me and Chris started we thought we would end up scoring over 200 runs but few wickets in the middle dented that plan. It was not as easy as it was in the beginning; we had to take our time. We took off and then there was a downfall with the fall of a few quick wickets. I am happy with the way we finished.” On being asked about batting with big hitting Chris Gayle, the Kings opener said, “For the first six overs the plan was simple and that was to play cricketing shots as we knew that if we do that we would end up with 40-45 runs in the powerplay on board. After the first six overs we decided whoever looked good will have to take off. I was looking to take it as deep as I can.”
