The earlier record which was created by Gambhir and Lynn happened in 2017. It was the third match of that year’s IPL and Gujarat Lions were taking on Kolkata Knight Riders at Rajkot. Skipper Suresh Raina's 68 and Dinesh Karthik's 25-ball 47 propelled the Lions to a total of 183/4 in their 20 overs. In reply Gambhir was smashing boundaries in quick succession while Lynn was smashing fours and sixes in regular intervals. Both players reached their fifties and chased down 184 with more than 5 overs to spare. Gambhir ended with 76 from just 48 balls while Lynn smashed 93 from just 41 deliveries.
