Injury scare in Indian team as KL Rahul gets hit on thumb during practice ahead of 2nd test | BANvIND

Xtra Time Web Desk: There was an injury scare during the India practice session as stand-in captain KL Rahul was hit on the thumb by a ball taking throwdowns from batting coach Vikram Rathour. Rahul was forced to stop batting as he was in discomfort after the ball hit his right hand ahead of the second Test against Bangladesh. Rahul was seen dropping his bat in pain and shook his hand vigorously. The BCCI medical staff rushed to attend him. Later he was sent to a doctor for precautionary measure.

The Indians had an optional practice session on Wednesday ahead of the second test which starts at Sher e Bangla stadium from Thursday, December 22. The likes of Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Shreyas Iyer along with Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadava and Ravichandran Ashwin did not turn up for the training on Wednesday.

Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant were the first to hits the nets. Both were seen taking throwdowns. Virat initially took throwdowns from Dayanand and batting coach Vikram Rathour while Pant batted against Nuwan. KL Rahul was seen batting in one of the nets against the left arm spin duo Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel.

It looks like the Indian team is likely to be unchanged for the second test against Bangladesh starting at the Sher e Bangla stadium from Thursday, December 22. KL Rahul and his team have taken a 1-0 lead following the 188 runs win in the first test at Chittagong.

With Rohit Sharma getting ruled out because of a thumb injury, stand in captain KL Rahul will open the batting with Shubman Gill. The talented cricketer from Punjab scored his maiden test ton at Chittagong. Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant will form the middle order with Ravichandran Ashwin going in at No 6.

Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel, both are likely to retain their places in the playing XI while Mohammed Siraj and Umesh Yadav will be the pacer duo. Kuldeep was preferred in the first test ahead of Saurabh Kumar. He justified his selection in the side by taking 8 wickets in the match and also scoring a useful 40 runs in the first innings.
