XtraTime Web Desk: Virat Kohli led Indian cricket team will have a new trainer during their tour to West Indies as their previous trainer Shankar Basu quit after India’s 2019 ICC World Cup campaign.

Given that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited applications for various positions of the support staff for the Indian team, an interim trainer has been provided to the team.

Soham Desai, an understudy to Shankar, will perform the duties of the head trainer on the West Indies tour. He is currently associated with the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore and is already in the West Indies with India A team.

Desai will join the Indian team in Florida, where Virat Kohli & Co will play two Twenty20 Internationals against West Indies before proceeding to the Caribbean. Vivek Ramakrishnan will replace Desai in India A side.
