Xtra Time Web Desk: India captain Virat Kohli on Friday reached another milestone in his glittering career. Kohli while scoring 41 runs against England in the 2nd ODI went past former Proteas captain Graeme Smith’s record of scoring most runs as captain in ODIs.

Smith had scored 5416 runs in 150 ODIs as captain while Kohli has now registered 5441 runs as the captain of India.

Kohli is placed in the fifth spot in the overall list. Australia skipper Ricky Ponting is placed No.1 in the list with 8497 runs in 234 matches. Former India captain MS Dhoni is placed second with 6641 runs in 200 ODIs. Stephen Fleming and Arjun Ranatunga are placed 3rd and 4th on the elite list.

There is still an opportunity to reach couple of more milestones in the final ODI of the series. If he reaches a hundred in the third ODI, he can go past Ricky Ponting’s record of 43 hundreds as captain of Australia in limited overs format.

Kohli can also equal Sachin Tendulkar who has smashed 20 centuries on home soil.
