Shakib Al Hasan may miss the IPL 2021 playoffs if KKR qualifies.

Xtra Time Web Desk: Kolkata Knight Rider’s star Bangladeshi all rounder Shakib Al Hasan will be arriving in India on March 28. Shakib will have to undergo seven days mandatory quarantine in Mumbai. The Bangladeshi cricketer will have to give multiple COVID-19 tests during quarantine and can only train with teammates if the results come negative.

It will be kind of homecoming for the ace Bangladesh all rounder as he was part of the champion KKR side in 2014. The franchise brought him at this years auction for INR 3.2 crore.

However, there is a possibility that the left hander might miss the playoffs if KKR qualifies this season. Xtra Time has come to know that the No Objection Certificate (NOC) given to Shakib by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is valid till May 18. Shakib will be required to join the Bangladesh squad for a three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka that will begin on May 20.

There have been issues with the Bangladesh superstar and BCB regarding his NOC to travel to India to play in the IPL 2021. Shakib accused the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Cricket Operations Manager Akram Khan of misrepresenting his views regarding skipping the Test series against Sri Lanka.

Shakib suggested BCB to allow him to play in the IPL 2021 in order to be better prepared for the forthcoming T20 World Cup which will take place in India later this year. He felt playing in the test series against Sri Lanka will not be an ideal preparation for him for the marquee event.

Shakib recently began training at his own academy to regain match fitness after he missed out the tour to West Indies due to a groin injury.

The KKR allrounder on Friday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bangladesh and lauded his ‘tremendous leadership’ –

In a video released by ANI, Shakib Al Hasan said, “Really honoured to meet PM Modi. I think his visit will be fruitful for both countries. Leadership he had shown for India is tremendous. I hope he’ll continue to help grow India in future & our relation with India will get better day by day.”
