India vs Australia: Rohit Sharma starts preparation for third test match at SCG
Xtra Time Web Desk: Star Indian opener Rohit Sharma on Thursday started his preparation for the third test match against Australia. The Hitman trained for the first time outdoor at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) since being in quarantine for 14 days in Sydney. He joined the Indian team last evening at Melbourne.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted a couple pictures from Rohit's training session on Thursday on its social media handles with a caption, "The Hitman is here and has just got the engine started!"
Rohit was seen doing some catching practice before he headed to the nets for some batting session with batting consultant Vikram Rathour. Rohit's participation in the remaining two Tests, to be held in Sydney and Brisbane, will depend on assessment by the team's medical staff and management, as stated in a BCCI release shared before Rohit's departure to Australia.
The star batsman had injured his hamstring during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 and although he returned to the field to lead Mumbai to a record fifth IPL title, he didn't travel with the team to Australia subsequently. He went through his rehab before clearing a fitness test at the National Cricket Academy.
The third Test between India and Australia begins on January 7 in Sydney
