Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India on Saturday was dealt yet another injury blow and this time it is their star all rounder Ravindra Jadeja who injured his left  thumb while batting on Day 3 of the third test at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). Jadeja was sent for scans along with wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant. As per reports Jadeja will be very likely unable to bowl in the second innings. As far as Pant is concerned, the wicketkeeper batsman is likely to bat in the second innings. Wriddhiman Saha did keep wickets in the absence of Pant as he was taken to the hospital for scans.

Pant was hit on his elbow by a delivery from Aussie pacer Pat Cummins, Jadeja took a blow to his thumb while facing a bouncer from Mitchell Starc. The left hander had a dislocation to his left thumb.

“Ravindra Jadeja suffered a blow to his left thumb while batting. He has been taken for scans,” BCCI said in a tweet.

Wriddhiman Saha was seen keeping wickets for India during Australia’s second innings as Pant had to be taken to the hospital for scans. It remains to be seen if the left-hander can feature again in the third Test. Jadeja also did not take the field for India during Australia’s innings.

Jadeja once again looked in fine form and scored a crucial 28 off 37 balls while remaining unbeaten during India’s first innings at the SCG. However, he failed to find support from the other end as the Indian middle-order and tail surrendered against the Australian bowling attack.
