India vs Australia: Double blow for India ahead of Brisbane test

Xtra Time Web Desk: This is turning out to be a nightmarish tour for the Indian team as far as injuries are concerned. After Ravindra Jadeja (officially ruled out of test at Gabba), it is very unlikely Hanuma Vihari will feature in the playing XI for the fourth and final test match of the series at Gabba. Vihari too suffered a hamstring injury during his marathon 161 ball 23 runs innings in the second innings of the third test match at SCG.

The talented batsman from Andhra Pradesh along with Ravichandran Ashwin battled through the pain and defied Australia for 42 overs as India showed tremendous resilience in saving the Sydney Test against Australia. With this two injury blows, it will be a real concern for the Indian team management to field a XI for the final test.

Shardul Thakur might get the nod for Ravindra Jadeja for the test match at Gabba. The team management is awaiting the final reports on Vihari and it looks like he will be out of action for at least four weeks which makes him doubtful for the series against England at home.

If Vihari does miss out then the team management will be left with the option of fielding either Mayank Agarwal or Prithvi Shaw. They may also want to play Rishabh Pant purely as a batsman and make Wriddhiman Saha keep wickets.

Both the Indian and Australian teams travelled to Brisbane on Tuesday morning for the final test match of the series. The series is leveled at 1-1.
