India versus South Africa T20 series: Indian squad to undergo mandatory fitness test at NCA before series

Xtra Time Web Desk: The 18-member India squad will have to undergo a mandatory fitness test at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru ahead of the start of the five match T20 series against South Africa at home. All the players have been instructed to report to the NCA on or before June 5. The fitness tests will be carried under the supervision of NCA director VVS Laxman and physio Nitin Patel.

The players who have passed the fitness test will travel to Delhi on June 7 for the 1st T20I on June 9. It’s still not clear whether Team India Head Coach Rahul Dravid will be available for the entire five-match series against South Africa or not. It was earlier reported that VVS Laxman might have to do the coaching role for the series against South Africa and Ireland.  

According to reports Rahul Dravid was in favour of being available for the entire SA series and then joining the squad in England on June 21 before the four-day warm-up match against Leicestershire starting from June 25. Dravid wants to oversee the performance of the players during the series against South Africa.
