Xtra Time Web Desk: Will Karn Sharma prove to be the lucky charm for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the ongoing IPL 2022 season? Why is the leg spinner considered to be lucky for Faf du Plessis led franchise? The simple reason is Karn has been part of three IPL franchises who have previously won the IPL trophy. The cricketer from Meerut won his maiden IPL trophy with Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016 season. He was part of the victorious Mumbai Indians side in IPL 2017. The leg spinner was third time lucky when he won the coveted trophy twice with Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2018 and 2021 seasons.

Karn represented three different franchises before re-joining the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad this season. He was brought for his base price of INR 50 lakhs by RCB. He represented Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. He began his IPL journey with the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2009 and was a part of the squad that finished as the runners-up under Anil Kumble. Unfortunately, he did not get an opportunity to don the RCB jersey in the entire 2009 season.

The leg spinner became the highest paid uncapped player at the 2014 auctions when he was bought by the Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 3.75 crore. In 2016, he won the title with Sunrisers Hyderabad under David Warner but failed to pick up any wicket in five matches he played in that edition of the IPL.

The following season Karn played a crucial role in Mumbai Indians lifting the IPL trophy in 2017 season. He picked up 13 wickets in nine matches at an impressive economy of 6.97. After being released by Rohit's men, he was bought by the Chennai Super Kings for INR 5 crore at the 2018 auctions. Karn played six matches for Chennai throughout the season in which he took four wickets at an economy of 9.36. In the last IPL 2021 season held in Dubai, Karn did not play a single match for the victorious CSK side.

Overall Karn has played 61 IPL matches scoring 316 runs and picking up 53 wickets at an economy of 7.76, with his best figures being 4/16. Winning three successive titles is quite a rare feat for any player. Will Karn Sharma prove to be the lucky charm for RCB, only time will say.
