Xtra Time Web Desk: KL Rahul led Indian cricket team left for Harare from Mumbai on Friday night. National Cricket Academy Director VVS Laxman has accompanied the side to Zimbabwe. The former India cricketer will be the acting head coach for the tour of Zimbabwe as there is only a short turnaround time between the series and the Asia Cup starting on August 27 in the UAE.

The players boarded the flight to Harare in the wee hours on Saturday. KL Rahul is making a comeback in the Indian side after injury. He was also named as the captain of the side, replacing Shikhar Dhawan who was earlier named as the captain. For Rahul the tour will be very important as this will be his last chance to prepare himself for the forthcoming Asia Cup. Earlier this week Rahul replaced Shikhar Dhawan as captain for the series.

The Indian players will have their first training session on Sunday. All the three ODIs will be played at the Harare Sports Club. The first ODI will be played on August 18. The other two matches will be played on August 20 and 22 respectively.

Meanwhile the Indian squad for upcoming Asia Cup 2022 will travel to UAE on August 20.
