India tour to South Africa definitely on after South African Foreign Ministry assures secure bio-bubble

Xtra Time Web Desk: The roadblocks regarding the upcoming tour to South Africa by the Indian senior cricket team is getting cleared following the South African Foreign Ministry’s statement on Tuesday. According to the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO), which is the country’s foreign ministry, South African Government will provide a fully bio-secure environment for the visiting Indian cricket team amid fears of the new COVID variant, Omicron.Virat Kohli and his boys are scheduled to reach the Rainbow nation on December 9.

The ministry also lauded the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for showing faith in their government and allowing the India A team to continue their series wherein they are playing 3 unofficial 4-day Test matches.

“South Africa will take all precautions necessary to ensure the health and safety of the Indian teams. A full Bio-secure environment will be established around both the South African and Indian ‘A’ Teams as well as the two National Teams,” the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO), which is the country’s foreign ministry, said in a statement on Tuesday.

“India’s decision to show solidarity by choosing to continue with the tour of the Indian ‘A’ Team stands in contrast with a number of countries who have decided to close their borders and to restrict travel from Southern African…,” it added.

The upcoming series between India and South Africa kicks off with the first test to be played at the Wanderers from December 17 followed by the second test at Super Sport Park in Centurion. The third and final test will be played at Newlands in Cape Town from January 3.
