India tour to SA: Shubman & Jadeja likely to join T20I squad in Durban on Friday

Xtra Time Web Desk: Suryakumar Yadav led Indian T20I side reached Durban on Wednesday for the three match T20I series. The first match of the series will be played at the Kingsmead ground on Sunday, December 10. The Indian team will be having their first training session on Friday morning.

Ravindra Jadeja, who is named as the vice-captain of the T20 side is likely to join the Indian squad on Friday. The all-rounder is currently holidaying in Paris. Shubman Gill too will join the squad from United Kingdom. Gill went to UK for a few days where he met Gujarat Titans teammate Rashid Khan who recently had a surgery.

It is already known that Deepak Chahar has not travelled with the side to South Africa due to a family issue back home. His father is believed to be ill, and it is still not clear when the pacer will be able to fly to South Africa. However, sources say he could reach there soon as his father’s health condition has improved. The Rajasthan and Chennai Super Kings pacer has been included in the One-Day team as well.

It is understood that all of them have taken permission from the BCCI to join the team, as has a member of the support staff. All are expected to be in Durban well in time before the first match on December 10.

A couple of selectors Shib Sundar Das and Salil Ankola are also expected to fly to South Africa for the white ball series.

The Men in Blue will take on Proteas in the first T20I on December 10, followed by two more matches at Gqeberha and Wanderers in Johannesburg on December 12 and 14 respectively.
