India Tour of Sri Lanka: Growing concerns for SLC to go ahead with the scheduled series

The scheduled matches between India and Sri Lanka in July is supposed to take place at the R Premadasa stadium in Colombo.

Xtra Time Web Desk: The forthcoming India tour to Sri Lanka seems to be under clouds due to the growing concerns with COVID-19 cases in the island nation. Sri Lanka Cricket is closely monitoring the pandemic situation in the country. The island nation on Thursday reported 3,269 COVID-19 cases and 24 fatalities. The white ball series between India and Sri Lanka was originally scheduled for June 2020. But the series had to be postponed due to the global pandemic. In the revised ICC Future Tour Programme (FTP), the white-ball series was moved to July this year. With the cases rising daily, SLC board officials will be concerned to go ahead with the series

Given the current situation, SLC has decided to host all the matches at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The matches are supposed be played in a bio-secure bubble.

BCCI will be sending their ‘B’ team for the series as the main squad will be busy fulfilling FTP commitments in England. The likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Yuzuvendra Chahal, Rahul Chahar, Navdeep Saini, Deepak Chahar will make the squad which will be announced later.
