Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India’s ace Ravichandran Ashwin has warmed up in style for the upcoming five-Test series against England with a six wicket haul in the second innings of the County Championship game against Somerset at the Oval on Wednesday. It was due to Ashwin that Somerset was bowled out for 69 runs in 29.1 overs on Day 4 of the County Championship game.

Ashwin picked only one wicket in the first innings, giving away 96 runs in 42 overs. But he was at his best picking five wickets in a span of 15 overs. He finished with match figures of 7/126

This is Ashwin’s 49th fifth-wicket haul and seventh five-for in County cricket. The ace spinner had previously picked five wicket hauls for Notthinghamshire and Worcestershire. The performance of Ashwin in the county match will give him a huge confidence heading into the test series

Opening the bowling in the second innings as well, Ashwin dismissed Somerset batsmen Steven Davies (7), Tom Lammonby (3), captain James Hildreth (14), George Barlett (12) and Roelof (7) van der Merwe.
