India Open 2023: Mens doubles pair of Satwik Rankireddy & Chirag Shetty pulls out from Round 2 due to an injury

Xtra Time Web Desk: Defending Men’s Doubles champions Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty has pulled out of the ongoing India Open 2023 badminton championships in New Delhi. The pair decided against playing their second round match on Thursday. A groin injury to Satwiksairaj Rankireddy ended their campaign. The Indian duo were scheduled to face the Chinese pair Ou Xuanyi and Liu Yuchen in Round 16.

Satwik and Chirag won their first round match defeating Scottish players Christopher Grimley and Mathew Grimley in straight sets. They dominated throughout the match and sealed victory by 21-13, 21-15 margin. The Indian duo have been in great form, winning the Malaysian Open doubles title.

Meanwhile, in the men’s singles Lakshya Sen will take on Rasmus Gemke on Day 3 of the tournament. In Women’s singles, Saina Nehwal will aim to continue her fine form as she takes on World No 3 Chinese opponent Chen Yu Fei. Krishna Garaga & Vishnuvardhan Panjala will feature in the Men’s doubles. Gayatri Gopichand & Treesa Jolly will take the court in the Women’s doubles category.
