For India, left arm spinner Axar Patel was the pick of the bowlers. His figures were 27-10-50-3. The other three Bangladesh wickets were shared between Umesh Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin.
The visitors are certainly the favourites but can the hosts spring in a surprise on the final day. Batting has been fairly easy against the older ball.
India have been made to toil hard, especially the bowlers on Day 4. The two left-handed Bangladesh openers batted the entire first session and stitched a century partnership. There were hardly any chances created either. It was Umesh Yadav in the post-lunch session who managed to get the breakthrough as he induced a loose shot from Shanto.
The hosts lost two more wickets before Tea with Yasir Ali falling to Axar Patel and Litton Das throwing his wicket away against Kuldeep. Debutant Zakir Hasan batted with a superb temperament to register his maiden Test ton but perished immediately with Ashwin bagging his first wicket of the match. Axar bowled superbly with the second new ball. He picked two wickets in the same over while Mushfiqur was beaten by the spin on the back foot, Nurul was stumped coming forward.
For a moment, it looked like Bangladesh would get bundled out today, but Shakib and Mehidy dragged this Test into the final day by batting 14 overs. While the former wasn’t afraid to play aerial shots, the latter was happy to block it around.
