Anilava Chatterjee, Tokyo: India’s Aditi Ashok came tantalizingly close to winning a bronze for the country in women’s golf event at Kasumigaseki Country Club on Saturday. She finished 15 under par in Round 4, which was one score behind New Zealand’s Lydia Ko who scored 16 under par along with Japan’s Inami Mone also on 16 under par. America’s Nelly Korda won the gold with a score of 17 under par. Lydia scored 69 points in Rd 4 and ended with an overall points of 267 in four rounds.  Aditi finished with an overall score of 269 points. Inami and Lydia faced each other for silver as they were tied on overall 268 points. In the end the golfer from Japan won the silver.

Aditi was superb on the green, with her chip shots and putting. She was second after Round 3 in the golf event at Tokyo Olympics on Friday. Aditi has been superb in all three rounds at Kasumigaseki Country Club. But she missed a birdie in the crucial 18th hole to lose her way for a medal.
