Xtra Time Web Desk: Bajrang Punia defeated reigning world silver medalist Kazakhstan’s Gadzhimurad Rashidov 8-0 to win bronze in freestyle 65Kg category at Tokyo Olympics on Saturday. It was the second medal for India from wrestling after Ravi Kumar Dahiya won silver in 57kg category. It was also the sixth overall medal for the country at Tokyo 2020; equalling London 2012 where the country won six medals.

Bajrang was on top against Niyazbekov from the beginning as he led 2-0 at the end of first period. He continued to build on his lead in the second period as he led 8-0 to be declared outright winner. The Indian gappler made up for the disappointment of losing the semi finals to Azerbaijan’s Haji Aliyev on Friday.
