Internet Desk: Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy stadium has always been the happy hunting ground for Australia’s fiery opener David Warner. Under his leadership Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad won the title back on 2016. Tomorrow, Warner would be playing his 100th ODI for Australia when India and Australia will face each other in the fourth match of the 5-match ODI series.
The Aussies have already lost the series as they are trailing by 0-3, but according to Warner Australia have a lot to play for in the remainder of the tour.
“We have lot to play for. Our pride is at stake. We have to make the most of the remaining five games. You try to win the overall battle.
“Even though the series is lost, we still have two more ODIs and three T-20 Internationals to turn the tour around,” Warner said.
David Warner has batted like a true champion for the Aussies in ODIs for last one and a half year. He has scored 1556 runs in 28 ODI’s with an average close to 60 and in this span he has hit eight centuries too. According to Warner playing Test matches regularly have helped him to score big runs in ODIs.
“Playing Test match cricket has allowed to me to play the game properly and has showed me that there is a lot more time in 50-over cricket than in T20 cricket.
“Trying to bat in the middle period, play the game according to what the situation is and set a platform for the guys coming in is something that I am striving to achieve,” Warner said.
The Aussie opener is playing his first ODI series in India and this hasn’t been a good experience for him.
“It has been a new experience with two new balls. The Eden ODI conditions were the most difficult that I have ever faced from a white ball point of view. It swung a lot more than England,” he added
On being asked about his feeling before playing his 100th ODI for the Aussies, Warner added,“It is a significant milestone for me and my family. It’s a dream come true. I am proud of how I have established myself,’ Warner said.
