Xtra Time Web Desk: Kolkata Knight Riders ‘Rinku Singh has been the star performer for his team this IPL 2023 season. The 25-year-old established himself as a finisher for KKR. Former cricketers like Harbhajan Singh hailed Rinku’s performance, saying the left hander must be immediately drafted into Team India’s T20I squad. The man himself is unperturbed as he wants to stay focussed on his training and doing things that are in his hand, and not selection, which he has no control over.
“It feels good to have a season like this. I’m not thinking too much about the Indian team selection. Now when I head home, I will go back to my routine practice, gym. I will just keep doing my work,” said Rinku at the post-match press conference in Kolkata.

The cricketer from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh has amassed 474 runs from 14 games at a phenomenal strike rate of almost 160. On Saturday Rinku almost won the IPL 2023 game against Lucknow Super Giants at Eden Gardens. Although his unbeaten 67 off 33 balls failed to win the game against Lucknow Super Giants, he earned plenty of respect from opponents, current and former cricketers.
Rinku had also produced a few fine cameos with the bat for KKR last season but he truly stepped up his game this season. The 5 consecutive sixes Rinku hit against Gujarat Titans’ Yash Dayal made him a star overnight. His family, understandably, is very happy with all the love the KKR star is getting.
“My family is very happy. People used to know me before. The last few knocks I played; people started to know about me. But ever since I hit those five sixes in the game against GT, I’ve started to get a lot more respect and many more have started to recognize me. So it feels good,” said Rinku.
Rinku has made rapid strides in his game. Whether he gets picked in Indian team, only time will stay.
