As per IFA sources, The IFA Secretary has written a letter to the AIFF President and requested to sit for another meeting with the two Kolkata clubs and the IFA before the meeting at Kuala Lumpur to know the roadmap of Indian football which they wanted to know in the previous meeting as well. The AIFF President will no longer be present at the meeting on 7th June with the AFC and AIFF Secretary Kushal Das will represent the federation.
It is understandable that both East Bengal and Mohun Bagan will boycott the meeting if the AIFF President turns down the proposal for another meeting and might go for further protest. It is learnt that the Kolkata giants will no way sacrifice their last two demands on appearance fee and home venue and that has made the situation even more critical.
The AIFF will possible have two ways to announce their verdict. If Mohun Bagan and East Bengal announce to skip the I-League and ISL, they might get forced to play a valueless tournament like the proposed Bengal Cup. Otherwise, it might be decided that the ISL and I-League would be continued for four months each, like it is claimed by the two Kolkata clubs. If that happens, East Bengal and Mohun Bagan will continue to play in the I-League.
On the other hand, Kushal Das will be retiring from his post in 2019, while Praful Patel's term will be finished in 2020. The new committee will then have to start thinking afresh from there on to prepare the road-map of Indian football.
