ICC Women’s T20 World Cup: Harmapreet Kaur & co yet to receive runners up prize money

Harmanpreet & her teammates are yet to receive the prize money for ICC Women’s T20 World Cup held in Australia.

Xtra Time Web Desk: Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma are yet to receive their share of the runners up prize money for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. The matter was brought to daylight following reports in Telegraph newspaper in UK. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials has indicated that the delay was due to the “pandemic”.

UK’s The Telegraph had reported about the delay in payment of the prize money for the global event, which was held in February-March last year. It is learnt that the payment will reach the BCCI coffers by end of this week.

In the case of ICC events, the standard practice is to distribute the prize money soon after the ICC disburses the amount.

It is not the first time that there is such a delay from the world cricket governing body. The members of the 2019 men’s team that reached the World cup semifinals received their prize money at the end of November-early December, more than four months after the completion of the tournament.
