ICC U19 World Cup 2022 : India U19 defeats England by 4 wickets to clinch their 5th U19 World Cup title

Xtra Time Web Desk : India U19 on Saturday sealed a 4 wicket win over England U19 in what was a thrilling final to win their fifth World Cup title as they clinihed the ICC U19 World Cup 2022. Yash Dhull became the fifth Indian captain after Mohammed Kaif, Virat Kohli, Unmukht Chand and Prithvi Shaw to achieve this feat.

Putting on to ball first by England, Dhull’s side produced a brilliant bowling performance to bundle out their opponents for a mere score of 189, courtesy of a herculean five fer from Raj Bawa. Although James Rew scored a fighting 95 but was short of support from the other side except a knock of 34 from James Sales.

Coming on to chase 190 in the second innings, opener Angkrish Raghuvanshi got out early to Boyden for the score of zero. But after the initial setback, vice captain Shaik Rasheed and Harnoor Singh stiched a partnership of 49 to give the Indian innings stability. Although Harnoor got out to Aspinwall for 21, the vice captain went on to score a well made half century before getting out to Sales. Captain Dhull was soon dismissed for the score of 17 making the Team’s score for 97/4.

But it was then a partnership of Nishant Sandhu and the five fer hero Raj Bawa which took the Indian Colts to a score of 159/5. Although, India lost another wicket in Kaushal Tambe soon after that but Nishant Sandhu with a brilliant half century, supported by wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Bana ensured that India U19 went all the way through to clinched their 5th ICC U19 World Cup title.

Bana finished the match off in typical ‘Dhoni’ style with a six which took India past 189 and helped his team seal a 4 wicket win over England to win the ICC U19 World Cup 2022.
