Internet Desk: ICC’s Chief Executives Committee chaired by David Richardson in a meeting last week approved few rule changes for cricket which was recommended by the Cricket Committee- led by former India coach Anil Kumble. The two most important changes are that, the teams will not lose a review if a leg before referral returns as ‘Umpires Call’ and the umpires will have the power to send a player outside the field for a misconduct, including violence.

The recommendations were discussed and later approved in a meeting in London, few days back after the completion of the ICC Champions Trophy.

The DRS will also be available in all T20I after these recommendations. On the other hand the DRS rule on umpires call and the current regulation allowing the top-up reviews after 80 overs in Tests has been removed. The minimum standards for DRS use would include the mandatory use of accredited ball tracking and edge detection technology.

The other big change is a player can be sent off by the umpire if he thinks the player is violating the rules on the field. All other offences would be supervised under the ICC Code of Conduct.

The other two major changes which have been recommended and accepted by the committee are on the restriction regarding the measurements of the bat (thickness of edges and depth of bat) as many had said that the batsmen are getting favour over the bowlers. Also a batsman will be given not out if his bat bounces after being grounded behind the popping crease.

The new ICC rules and changes will come into effect from October 1.
