ICC CWC Super League Table: Virat Kohli’s men slip to No 8 in points table

Xtra Time Web Desk: Virat Kohli and his boys slipped to No 8 in the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League points table following their huge loss against England in the second ODI at Pune on Friday. The Indian team also missed an opportunity to leapfrog England to No 1 team in ICC ODI rankings. The Men in Blue required winning the three matches ODI series by a 3-0 margin. England maintained their No 1 spot with 123 points followed by New Zealand on 118 points. The Kiwis also reached 118 points following their clean sweep over Bangladesh.

After the victory in the first ODI, India had reached 6275 points. This meant an improvement of one rating point. On the flip side, England’s rating points also got reduced by one to 122. However, with England’s victory in the 2nd ODI, they are back to 123 rating points with India staying at 118.

As far as Cricket World Cup Super League table is concerned Eoin Morgan’s team seats comfortably placed on top with 40 points from 8 matches. They are followed by Australia who has 40 points as well from 6 ODIs. India are languishing at No 8 spot with 19 points from 5 games. Virat and his boys will get an opportunity to push Pakistan behind by winning the final ODI against England on Sunday.  

The ICC Cricket World Cup Super League will help decide which teams feature in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 in India. India, who are the hosts in 2023, and the other top seven teams will qualify automatically for the World Cup. The bottom five teams will play a qualifying tournament, which will also feature the best teams from the lower rungs of competition.
