ICC CWC 2019: Virat Kohli wants this from his deputy in the semis

XtraTime Web Desk: India’s star opener Rohit Sharma has been a sensation for his team with scoring 5 hundreds in a single World Cup and he is about to break Sachin Tendulkar’s six centuries record.

With 647 runs from 8 innings, Rohit Sharma has dominated World Cup 2019 like a boss. Virat Kohli, India captain, said he was thrilled with Rohit’s form even if he has missed out on hundreds. Kohli hit 5 successive half-centuries but he is yet to score a hundred.

On the eve of India’s semi-final against New Zealand in Manchester, Kohli was asked if he missed scoring hundreds so far in this World Cup. “Not at all. It has been a different kind of role I have played in the World Cup. It’s great that Rohit is so consistent.

“I am controlling the middle order to allow guys like Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant express themselves. I know I can accelerate in the end.

Beside that Kohli is hopeful that Rohit will score two more centuries in this World Cup.

“Like Rohit said the other day, no one focuses on personal milestones. We are doing the best for the team and in that process special things happen. Hope Rohit gets two more hundreds so we can get two more wins. He is the top ODI player in the world,” Kohli said at the press conference.

Rohit Sharma now has 27 ODI hundreds. He also jointly holds the record for most World Cup centuries (6) with Sachin Tendulkar.
