ICC CWC 2019: Bumrah reveals the reason behind India’s classy bowling effort against SA

XtraTime Web Desk: India’s both pacers and bowlers bowled magnificently against South Africa in their first game in World Cup 2019 at Ageas Bowl. Among them Yuzvendra Chahal and Jasprit Bumrah were on top as they took 4 and 2 wickets respectively. On being asked about their plans against South Africa while bowling pace maestro Jasprit Bumrah said,” We wanted to bowl hard lengths with the new ball, Test match lengths and early wickets are always helpful for the team and we are happy we were able to do it.”

In his first over Bumrah almost removed Quinton de Kock with brilliant pace and swing. Kock was in Mumbai Indians squad with Bumrah for a couple of years, but as per Bumrah that wasn’t the reason that he almost got Kock’s wicket because of knowing him closely. As per Bumrah there was a lot of help in the pitch and that was the reason behind his top spell.”Not too much… It was a T20 competition and he was in my team but over here there was a lot of help (If he worked out QdK during his MI days). When there is seam movement you don’t need to try too much. Just bowl good hard lengths and wait for the batsman to do mistakes,” added Bumrah.

Bumrah feels that they got good time for preparations in England as well and hopeful that the Men in Blue will chase down the total at an ease.”We got a good prep period. We wanted to tick all boxes before our first match. Maybe the wicket has flattened out. Hopefully we will chase it down,” concluded Bumrah.
