ICC CWC 2019: A lot of people want me to retire, says MS Dhoni

Debasis Sen, Leeds: Two times World Cup winning Indian captain Mahendra Singh on Friday broke his silence amidst the speculation about his retirement. The former Indian captain while leaving the Headingley Cricket Stadium after training, told couple of media that he himself has no idea about his retirement.

“I don’t know when I will retire. But a lot of people want me to retire before tomorrow’s game,” Dhoni told ABP News.

The former India captain was in a jovial mood during the practice session at Headingley ahead of Saturday’s ICC Cricket World Cup clash against Sri Lanka. The wicket-keeper batsman walked straight into the nets to have a few knocks before he started bowling some leg spin to Indian captain Virat Kohli. He was bowling with Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav at one of the nets. Later he went into bat along with Kedar Jadhav and Dinesh Karthik.

After the nets, Dhoni was seen having a long discussion with Ravi Shastri. The Head Coach of the Indian Team, known to be a hardcore Dhoni supporter was seen having an animated chat. Shastri was seen pointing a thing or two to Dhoni. Before leaving the ground, Dhoni was seen walking towards the wicket which was covered. He tried to have a peep in and later asked the net bowlers to remove the cover a little to have a good look at the strip.

India is set to play their last league game of World Cup 2019 against Sri Lanka in Leeds on Saturday. Speculations about the future of veteran wicketkeeper MS Dhoni, who is playing in his 4th World Cup, have been rife since the tournament started. While some had predicted that he could be playing his last tournament, according to few other experts Dhoni would continue to play in Indian colours even after the World Cup.
