I will have an opportunity to play in World Cup if I do well in IPL 2023: Deepak Chahar

Xtra Time Web Desk: A lot of focus will be on Deepak Chahar as he is all set to return to competitive matches in IPL 2023 for Chennai Super Kings. The pacer from Rajasthan missed the IPL 2022 season due to a back injury. Chahar, who was retained by CSK for a whopping INR 14 crore in the IPL 2022 mega auction is now fully fit and ready to take the field for Yellow Army.

Deepak is looking forward to the IPL 2023 season but most importantly has set his eyes on grabbing a spot in the World Cup squad.

“It is exciting for any player who haven’t played a lot of cricket in recent time. I was looking forward to playing in the IPL. This is my best chance as if I can play all matches and do well then, I will have an opportunity to play in the World Cup. Every player’s dream is to play World Cup and this time it is at home. The upcoming IPL 2023 is very important for me,” Deepak Chahar said in an exclusive chat with Xtra Time.

It was a tough last year for Chahar in terms of injury as he could only make 15 appearances for India. Apart from the IPL, Chahar also missed the T20 World Cup in Australia. He did play one Ranji Trophy match for Services in January.

Chahar will be hoping for a successful IPL 2023 season but most importantly an injury free one as his bigger goal is to break into the Indian white ball squad.
