I-League: Mohun Bagan completed redemption, thrashed Churchill to smell the title

XtraTime Web Desk: Mohun Bagan thump Churchill Brothers on Saturday at their own backyard by 3-0 and complete a sweet revenge of their first leg defeat at Kalyani.

All the Indian football fans were keeping their eyes on this game at Fatordah, as Churchill too were chasing Bagan on their race for the title.

Papa Diawara (6′), Suhair VP (50′) and Komron Tursunov (58′) helped Mohun Bagan to a 3-0 win, but the brand of football Mohun Bagan presented, it could have been worse.

The opening goal came as early as in the sixth minute when Diawara got the final touch after Fran Gonzalez headed a Joseba Beitia free-kick across the face of goal.

Bagan made the task more daunting by building a three-goal cushion for themselves by the 58th minute. Suhair took the ball from Diawara and made a shunting run inside the box where he went unchallenged by Radanfah Abu Bakr as his right-footer bulged the net in the 50th minute while Bagan’s second half substitute Tursunov tapped in a Gurjinder cross from the left to take the game away from the Goans.

After this win, Bagan now can smell their second Hero I-League title after 2014-15 season.
