I League 2nd Division : Mohammedan beat Fateh Hyderabad 2-1.

MDSCHyderabad, December 8: Mohammedan Sporting Club produced a clinical  performance to beat Fateh Hyderabad AFC 2-1 in their Eastern Conference encounter of 2nd Division League played at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium in Hyderabad on Tuesday evening. Goals from Deepak Kumar (12′) and super sub Ajay Singh (30′) proved to be enough for the visitors emerge victorious in their first away game of the competition. Nitin Jyal (19′) struck the lone goal for the hosts.

Going into the tie Mohammedan coach  made five changes from the side that played goalless against Gangtok Himalayan SC fortnight ago handing starts to Priyant Singh, Saikat Saha Roy, Sourav Chakrabory, Kunal Ghosh and Pritam Singh.Mohammedan started as the brighter of two teams. Having missed few close  chances in opening 10 minutes of the game Mohammedan took the deserved lead through defender Deepak in the 12th minute. However, Hyderabad were quick to response as seven minutes later Nitin restored the parity for the hosts against run of play.

Thereafter, Hyderabad dominated the midfeild battle and even had few half-chances in front of Mohammedan goal, which saw coach Bhattacharya bringing on Ajay for Kunal in the 28th minute. The move turned to be the game changer as the Punjabi  striker netted 10 minutes later of his arrival inti the field to give his team 2-1 advantage at half-time.

Post interval, Mohammedan had quite a few chances to increase their lead through Kazeem Amobi and Imran Khan but some desperate defending from Hyderabad kept  the visitors at bay. Meanwhile, during the last quarter of the game Hyderabad put pressure to get something out of the game but the Mohammedan defence thwarted them wirh ease to record their second win in the competition that took them at second in the league table with 7 points, behind Neroca FC on goal difference
