I-League 2018/19: East Bengal beat Real Kashmir 2-1 in a close encounter to keep title hopes alive

XtraTime Web Desk: Brave Real Kashmir out of theI-League title race as they lost to East Bengal in their ‘home’ game 2-1 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in a nail biting encounter. East Bengal took the early lead in the 20th minute as Enrique Esqueda scored from a very well directed cross of Laldanmawia Ralte.

Real Kashmir’s forward Kofi Tetteh was given the marching order by the referee as he chased the referee offensively after was given the yellow card. Jaime Santos Colado scored another while ten men Real Kashmir had no answer to it. Santos had a very good combination with Esqueda as the Mexican gave a wonderful cross to the Spanish midfielder. Santos had a volley to the goal.

In the second half Kashmir came back strongly and created a lot more chances. Finally they got the consolation goal from the penalty spot as East Bengal goalkeeper Rakhshit Dagar fouled Bazie Armand in the six yard box. Aaron Katebe scored it easily.

Real Kashmir got many chances after that but East Bengal was lucky not to concede another one. Borja Perez was given yellow card in the dying minutes of the game and he will miss the next match against Minerva Punjab on March 3.
