I-League 2017-18: Chennai upsets Minerva at home, sets the championship wide open

XtraTime Web Desk: Chennai City FC upsets table topper Minerva Punjab 2-1 in a very important game. Soosai Raj scored for the home team in the 5 th minute of the match but Chencho scored the equaliser in the 27 th minute. In the second half Soosai Raj assist Rakic to score thewining goal for Chennai City FC.

Edwin Vanspaul sends a cross from the right flank and Soosai Raj collected the ball inside the box. His initial shot palmed by Minerva Goalkeeper Kiran Limbu  but it landed right at Soosai Raj’s feet Chennai skipper made no mistake with the finish. Chencho equalised for Minerva as Amandeep sent a long ball inside the box; Chencho receives it and unleashes a shot at the back of the net.

Soosai Raj assists as he threads a pass between two defenders to Rakic who makes his run and beats Limbu on a one-on-one as the defence line asks the linesman for the flag. It’s a legitimate goal and the home team once again got lead.

Minerva tried hard but failed to score. In the dying minutes Chennai got a good chance to double the tally as a long ball for Rakic who is one on one with Kiran but his shot is blocked by the Minerva goalkeeper. With this win Chennai saved the relegation.
