Xtra Time Web Desk: Rafael Nadal said he is not thinking too much about winning a 21st Grand Slam on Sunday at the Australian Open. He opens up on how much he loves the sport he is into. Nadal stormed into the final of the Australian Open for the sixth time in his career, outclassing 7th seed Matteo Berrettini in 4 sets in the men’s singles semi-final at the Rod Laver Arena.

Nadal said, “I always want to play my best. Of course, my goal now is to win. As I said before, it’s a present to just be here and play tennis. I am taking things a little bit in a different way. Of course, I will always have the competitive spirit, I can’t go against my personal DNA,” Nadal told the press after his semi-final victory in Melbourne.”

Nadal mentioned how much he is grateful to comeback from a foot injury and he has not lost a match in the new season, winning the ATP 250 in Melbourne and reaching the Australia Open final.

Nadal further said, “But in some way, I think to have a chance to compete at this level is a lot of positive energy for me to keep.”

Nadal will also become only the fourth man after Djokovic, Rod Laver and Roy Emerson to win all four Grand Slam titles at least twice but the Spaniard said he is not thinking about milestones.

“At the end of the day, playing tennis for me is much more important for me than winning the 21 because that makes me more happy in general life because I am being able to do what I love to do more than achieving another Grand Slam. At the end of the day, the life, it’s about happiness and what makes me happy is having the chance to do what I like to do,” he added.
