I also need some overs to heat up my batteries: Umran Malik hits back at SRH management | IPL 2023

Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India pacer Umran Malik on Sunday has hit back at the Sunrisers Hyderabad management. Umran, who has had a poor IPL 2023 season so far, picking only 5 wickets in 7 matches has indicated that he has not been handled well by the Sunrisers management.

Umran was one of the finds of the IPL 2022 season, picking 22 wickets in 14 games. It was his brilliant performance in IPL, he got picked for the Indian white ball team. But the express pacer from Jammu & Kashmir had a poor season so far.

Ahead of the IPL 2023 game against Mumbai Indians, Umran an interview with the host broadcasters, said, “Last year, I played all games and bowled all overs. This time, I bowled less overs and took 5 wickets only. When I wasn’t playing, I was putting on the hard work. I hope to perform better today”.

On being asked if he had slowed down his pace, Umran said, “I don’t think my pace is impacted. If I bowl only two overs… I also need some overs to heat up my batteries and get that pace up. I’m trying to bowl the right lines with good speed, and with some variations. When the team needs wickets, I target wickets. Otherwise, I try to curb the flow of runs.”

Few ex-cricketers like Zaheer Khan felt Umran was not properly used by the Sunrisers management. It goes to be seen if the talented pacer can bounce back after the poor show in IPL 2023.
