Huge doubts over Rishabh Pant’s participation in the test series against Australia at home

Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India’s star wicket keeper batter Rishabh Pant may not recover in time for the upcoming test series against Australia. Pant will undergo MRI scans on his knee and ankle on Saturday. If it is a complete tear then it may take upto 4-6 months to completely recover which will see him missing the home test series against the Aussies. The test series is very important for India as they need to win 3 out of 4 tests to guarantee a place in the World Test Championships Final at Lords in June. Australia have already sealed a berth in the final after their test series win against South Africa at home.

25-year-old Pant was involved in a car crash on Friday and is admitted to Max Superspeciality Hospital Dehradun. As of now, Pant is in stable condition despite having injuries to his head, back, and feet. However, the severity of his knee ligament tear may rule him out of Australia Test series as well as IPL 2023.

Pant was supposed to reach National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru on Jan 6 for rehab after being dropped from the white ball series against Sri Lanka. He was already carrying a niggle. But with the accident now, it will be very difficult for him to recover in time for the test series against Australia.
