Kolkata: In the last few seasons, success has not been that great. The Bengal team was “choking” repeatedly on the big stages. So before the upcoming domestic cricket season, Sourav Ganguly’s CAB has taken initiative to raise Manoj Tiwary and his team’s mental strife. They have brought renowned psychologist Mugdha Vhabar for the purpose. Right from Sunday morning, she sat down to discuss with the Bengal cricketers. This discussion lasted for 6 hours. This particular campaign will continue till Monday.

However, on the first day all the cricketers were not present. After getting acquainted with the senior team first, Mugdah later spoke separately with each and every batsman, which includes the likes of Bengal captain Manoj Tiwary, Anustup Majumdar, Shreevats Goswami and Writtick Chatterjee. The batsmen tried to discuss their problems with the psychologist. Mugdha gave various tips to these batsmen about how to stay in the crease for long and how to attack the opponents in tough situations.

Along with the hitters, young bowlers like Anant Saha, Pradipto Pramanik were also present in the class of the psychologist.

Apart from working as a psychologist, Mugdha has earned a reputation as a swimmer on international stage as well. The Mumbai girl has received the ‘Chhatrapati’ award for her good performance at the state level. On asking about the association of the psychologist with the Bengal team, CAB joint secretary Abhishek Dalmiya said, “Though the boys started well over the last few seasons, they failed to held their nerves. They had to face defeat in the hands of Delhi in the semi-finals of the Ranji Trophy. Even the U-23 boys and women’s senior team repeatedly faced this problem. So before the start of the season, she is appointed to raise the mental strength of the cricketers. She started the proceedings with the Men’s team first.”

BCCI’s former president Jagmohan Dalmiya took a special initiative to lift cricketers from small states. His plans were successfully executed in his initiative of ‘TRDO’ in the hands of Makrand Wainegankar. Everyone from Mahendra Singh Dhoni to Suresh Raina rose from ‘TRDO’. Makrand himself recommended Mughda’s name . At one time, Mugdha has worked with the Ranji team of Mumbai and their various age group teams. She said, “I had been associated with cricket before, I have a different love for this game, so I am proud to be associated with the Bengal team. I hope to bring success to the Bengal cricket team and I am really looking forward to working with the cricketers. The men in this team have all they got to be India’s best. All they need is proper guidance. “Bengal cricket team coach Sairaj said in this regard, “Thanks to the CAB for bringing in a psychologist like Mughda, hopefully her involvement will bring success to the Bengal team.”
