How can Team India make it to the final of World Test Championship at Lords?

Xtra Time Web Desk: The 2-0 test series win over Bangladesh has kept Team India in the race for consecutive final of World Test Championships scheduled to be held in June next year at Lords. The Indian team is currently in the second spot in the ICC World Test Championship points table with 99 points and 58.93 winning percentage. Australia leads the table with 120 points and 76.92 percentage points. South Africa are placed in the third spot with 72 points and 54.55 PCT.

In the current scenario for India to guarantee a place in the final of WTC at Lords, they will have to 3 out of the 4 matches in the upcoming test series.

With South Africa currently playing against Australia, India will hope for a 3-0 win for the Aussies against the Proteas. This will make things easy for India who will need just a series win.

However, the scenario might change if South Africa makes a comeback to seal the series 2-1 and then go on to win 2-0 against West Indies. This will then see South Africa leapfrogging India to take the second spot. Under those circumstances, India will then have to win 3-1 or 2-0 against Australia at home.
