To the surprise of many, Rohit Sharma has returned to the field for playing his team Mumbai Indians's last league match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Tuesday. Indian fans breathed a sigh of relief as his non selection in the tour of Australia raised few questions about his fitness.

Earlier in the day, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, said in an exclusive interview with PTI that Rohit was 'injured at the moment'. Defending the decision of the selectors for omitting Rohit's name from the squad, Ganguly said, “Rohit is injured at the moment. Otherwise, why would we leave out a player like him. He is the vice-captain of the national (limited-overs) team,".

When asked about his injury status before the match, Rohit replied by saying, “Looks like I’m fit and fine.”

Now this brings in a state of confusion in the Indian cricket camp as during the interview, the former captain also said, "We will have to assess him. I don't know (when he can come back). He hasn't played so far since the time he has got injured. We want him to recover. It's the BCCI's job to get their best players on the park. If he recovers, he plays,".

Does it mean that Rohit is now available and fit enough to assert BCCI to include his name for the upcoming Australian tour to the joy of many, only time will tell.

Fans have started to criticize and mock BCCI all across the social media world due to their communication conundrum and lack of knowledge about the player’s state of fitness. However, Rohit Sharma did not have an impressive return to the MI squad as he departed after scoring only 4 runs as he flicked one from Sandeep Sharma to David Warner to get out cheaply.
