His variations and intelligence with the ball on his hand, has been making significant contributions to help India performing well in all three formats. Erapalli Prasanna, the legendary Indian spinner spoke exclusively with www.xtratime.in today to analyse the mystery behind Ashwin's outstanding success. Here goes the excerpts: XtraTime: Ashwin has already picked up 250+ wickets in just 45 matches. What is the reason of his success? Erapalli Prasanna:  God sent him to win matches for India and he is helped by Jadeja, Jayant Yadav and Mishra. If he can maintain his composure he will surpass everyone very soon. The main thing about Ashwin’s success is his focus. He analyses his performance regularly and this is the way to be a big match performer. He knows his opponents quite well and upgrades his variations regularly. XtraTime: In the upcoming series he will face batsmen like Steve Smith & David Warner.what should be his plannings? Erapalli Prasanna: It will be very interesting. They are among the bests in today's game. We all want see that what will be Ashwin’s strategy against them. I believe that he has made a plan already. We all know he is very aggressive. On 2012-13, he took 29 wickets against Australia,but in the last tour against Australia he got only 12 wickets,which was disappointing, so I think he will have an extra attention in the upcoming series. XtraTime: What is his main strength? Erapalli Prasanna: Besides his off-spin deliveries, he uses carom ball which is also his strength. It is really tough to deliver carom balls in matches, but he can do it perfectly. In the upcoming series against Australia, carom ball will be his trump card. XtraTime: Would you like to give some tips to Ashwin for his upcoming career? Erapalli Prasanna: He is performing superbly right now. I don't think he requires any kind of tips from me now. Still I want to tell him that keep the basic things right and his aggression adds extra sharpness to his deliveries. XtraTime: The aggression is his another strength. Please Analyse it. Erapalli Prasanna: The other reason of his aggression is Indian skipper Virat kohli. Virat always remains charged up in every match. Ashwin is a match winner but any cricketer can be special under Kohli's captaincy. XtraTime: Do you think Kumble is also responsible for his success? Erapalli Prasanna: I think Kumble plays a vital role behind Ashwin’s  recent success. If you have a legend like him, then your best will come out automatically. I am sure that Kumble will surely help Ashwin to improve his stats on overseas and also in the upcoming series against Australia. XtraTime: Do you think that Ashwin will ever put his name on the leaderboards? Erapalli Prasanna: Definitely. He is slowly moving towards to Everest. He has time, he has many years to come in his career. So I think one day he will match legends like Murali, Warne. XtraTime: What is his positivity on the field? Erapalli Prasanna: His biggest positive is that he is a true learner. Though he has celebrity status he always remains down to earth. Ashwin always keeps it simple so that the junior players like Murugan Ashwin, Jayant Yadav always get helps from him.
