‘Hopefully, we’ll go to Kolkata’: Rahane encourages teammates before KKR’s must win game vs LSG | Watch Video

Xtra Time Web Desk: Kolkata Knight Riders’ batter Ajinkya Rahane, who was ruled out of the ongoing IPL season has wished his teammates ahead of leaving the team bubble. Rahane suffered a hamstring injury during KKR’s last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The experienced batter started the ongoing IPL season well start to the season but suddenly lost form mid-way into the tournament. Rahane scored only 133 runs at an average of 19.00 in seven games, with a highest score of 44.

KKR shared a video on their official Twitter handle as they announced Rahane’s exit from the side. They tweeted, “Ajinkya Rahane is going to miss the remaining games of #IPL2022 due to a hamstring injury. Wish you a speedy recovery, @ajinkyarahane88. The Knights camp will miss you,”

Rahane was seen delivering a small farewell speech after Head Coach Brendon McCullum briefed the team about his injury.

According to Rahane, “I really enjoyed my time, on and off the field with everyone. (I) Learned a lot as a cricketer about life, about everything. Just want to thank all the players, support staff, Venky Sir, and management people for all your help and support. I’ll definitely come back stronger next year. And I’m sure we will do well as a team in the next game, and hopefully, we’ll go to Kolkata and the playoffs,”.

KKR are placed in a must win situation against Lucknow Super Giants to keep their playoffs hopes alive.
