Goa police arrest AIFF official Deepak Sharma over assault allegations on women football players
Xtra Time Web Desk: Goa police arrested Deepak Sharma, an executive committee member of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), on 30th March, Saturday following allegations of assaulting women football players. A complaint was lodged against Deepak for purportedly assaulting and behaving inappropriately with two female footballers from Khad FC, a team competing in the Indian Women's League. As the club's owner, Deepak allegedly intruded into their accommodation and physically attacked them on March 28.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Mapusa) Sandesh Chodankar stated that Deepak Sharma, an AIFF executive committee member, was summoned for questioning on 30th March, Saturday following the formal complaint. Chodankar confirmed his arrest by Mapusa police on charges including causing harm, using force against women, and other violations. Deepak Sharma is accused of assaulting the two female footballers during their stay in Goa.

Sandesh Chodankar stated, ‘AIFF executive committee member Deepak Sharma was called for questioning during the day after a formal complaint was received. He was arrested by Mapusa police under various sections, including causing hurt, using force against women, among others.'
Chodankar also explained that Sharma, who is also the secretary-general of the Himachal Pradesh Football Association, will remain in custody for the night and will be produced in front of the court on Sunday, March 31.

Meanwhile, GFA President Caetano Fernandes said the association helped the victims file the complaint at Mapusa police station.
