XtraTime Web Desk - Two time World Cup winner Gautam Gambhir questions Virat Kohli about his leadership qualities. Gautam Gambhir feels Virat Kohli should be accountable and should be questioned following Royal Challengers Bangalore's exit from IPL 2020.

Speaking about RCB's problem to ESPNcricinfo, Gambhir said, “The problem starts with the management, the problem starts with the support staff and most importantly, the problem starts with the leadership. Till the time the leadership is not accountable, you'll keep getting the same results year after year”. Gambhir added, “Eight years into the IPL and you haven't won the IPL and that's where the problem is”.

Gautam Gambhir was then put in a hypothetical situation where he was asked if he was in-charge of RCB, whether he would change the captain of RCB or not to which the former opener said, “100% percent. 8 years is a long time. Tell me about any other captain. Forget captain, tell me about any other player who would've got 8 years without winning the title and continue with it. So it has be accountability. A captain needs to take accountability”.

After Gautam Gambhir's comments, social media was divided into two parts. Few fans were defending Virat Kohli while others wanted Rohit Sharma to be the next captain of team India. However, Gautam Gambhir explained his point furthermore.

“I've nothing against Virat Kohli but somewhere down the line he needs to put his hands up and say, ‘Yes, I'm responsible, I'm accountable’. Eight years is a long long time. Look what has happened to Ravichandran Ashwin. 2 years of captaincy, couldn't deliver and he was removed. There are so many others… I'm sure if Rohit Sharma won't have delivered for 8 years, he would have been removed as well. So, there shouldn't be different yardstick for different people. The problem starts from the top. Not from the management, not from the support staff but from the leader. You're the leader. When you get the credits, take the criticism as well”.
