“Future in Barcelona is difficult’: Jorge Messi on his son’s future at the Spanish club

XtraTime Web Desk: The future of his son in Barcelona is doubtful, claimed Joorge Messi, the father of Argentine soccer legend Lionel Messi. Jorge is also the agent of his son. The 66 year old Jorge on Wednesday reached Barcelona by a private jet to hold talks with the club officials. He boarded a private jet taking him to Spain from Rosario in Argentina and landed in the private terminal of the Barcelona-El Prat airport at around 6.45am local time.

Jorge is due to hold talks with Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu and other club officials over the next couple of days to resolve the impasse between his son and the club over the exit clause in his contract.
On Wednesday morning, Jorge Messi conceded it’s “difficult” his son will stay at Barcelona when asked by Spanish television programme El Chiringuito.

However, he said that “there is nothing yet” in terms of a possible move to Manchester City and that he had not spoken to Pep Guardiola.

Messi has been adamant on leaving the Catalan club and also did not turn up to the club’s Covid-19 testing on Sunday and subsequent start of training sessions on Monday.
