Former World Cup winning captains to be felicitated during the final at Narendra Modi Stadium | CWC2023

Xtra Time Web Desk: The stage is set for an exciting ICC Cricket World Cup final between India and Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, November 19. The Men in Blue are vying for their third world cup crown, while the Aussies aim for a hexa mission. In order the make the occasion a grand one, International Cricket Council and BCCI will be arranging a special ceremony where all the former World Cup-winning captains will be in attendance. The distinguished list includes legends like Kapil Dev, Ricky Ponting, Clive Llyod, Allan Border, Arjuna Ranatunga, Steve Waugh, MS Dhoni, Michael Clarke, and Eoin Morgan.

However, the 1992 World Cup-winning captain, Imran Khan, won’t be able to attend the event as he is currently serving a jail term in Pakistan. The ceremony, set to unfold in front of a capacity crowd exceeding one lakh, promises to be a memorable occasion as all the former World Cup winning captains will be presented a special blazer.

In addition to the captain’s tribute, the event will feature an airshow by Indian Air Force’s Suryakiran Acrobatic team and a performance by the renowned Bollywood music director Pritam. While speculations about international Grammy-winning artist Dua Lipa’s performance circulate, official confirmation is awaited.

Approximately 500 dancers from Mumbai will perform before game & mid innings. Local folk singer Aditya Gadhvi will perform at the start of the final. The air show will also take place before toss at 1:30pm. Pritam & Jonita Gandhi will perform during mid innings. There will also be a laser show along with a drone show.

Sunday’s final presents a perfect opportunity for the Men in Blue to take a revenge of the loss in 20o3 World Cup final against Ricky Ponting’s team at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.
