Internet Desk: In a 180 degree turn former judge of Supreme Court Markandey Katju has fired a salvo aimed at BCCI officials. The former SC judge tweeted “This treatment isn’t enough. Aisan na manahin. Lodha shud get BCCI officials tied naked to a pole & given 100 lashes each on their behinds”

Earlier Katju had termed the apex court verdict on BCCI reforms as “unconditional and illegal.”

In August, during a press conference organized by the board officials, Justice Katju had advised the BCCI to file a review petition before a larger bench of the apex court and also recommended that the board not meet the Lodha Committee on its scheduled meeting on August 9.

“What the Supreme Court has done is unconstitutional and illegal. There has been violation of principles of the [Indian] Constitution. Under our Constitution, we have legislature, executive and judiciary. There is broad separation of functions. It’s the legislature’s prerogative to make laws. If judiciary starts making laws, one is setting a dangerous precedent.

“I have advised them [the BCCI] to file a review petition before a larger bench. In this case, the Supreme Court outsourced a committee to decide on BCCI’s punishment,” said Justice Katju.

Subsequently in September, the Lodha Committee in a meeting with BCCI secretary Ajay Shirke rejected the report prepared by Justice Katju.
